Celebrating Success at Wallace Hall Academy

Our annual Wallace Hall Academy Senior and Junior Celebration of Success ceremonies sadly were not able to take place last academic session and, due to continuing Covid-19 restrictions, we are unfortunately still not able to get together as a school for such events. This week, all students who won prizes and certificates in session 2019-2020 were presented with their certificate by their class tutor. Certificates will be posted to our leavers to ensure their achievements are also recognised. Ella and Jordanna win Police Scotland Video Competition

Two senior Wallace Hall Academy pupils collected a cheque for £500 last week for winning a competition organised by Police Scotland to raise awareness of sheep worrying. Earlier this year, as part of their Rural Skills Agriculture course, Jordanna Hall and Ella Jordan made a powerful video highlighting the concerning issues of sheep worrying. They were delighted to be announced as the first prize winners for Dumfries and Galloway, winning £500 for the school. SQA Results at Wallace Hall Academy

Wallace Hall students excelled in this year’s SQA courses with eight pupils in total achieving five straight A grades at Higher level with one of those eight pupils going a step further and achieving a fantastic six straight As, all at Higher. As a result of Covid-19, pupils across Scotland this year were not given the opportunity to sit their SQA examinations in the normal way. Teachers were asked to use their professional judgement to provide estimate grades which reflected the pupils’ performance throughout the year from evidence gathered in prelim examinations, class tests and during subject lessons.
