WHPS STEM Ambassadors lead the way

To celebrate Science Week in March (before schools had to go into lockdown in response to the Government’s Covid-19 guidelines) a group of Wallace Hall Primary pupils from P4-7 became scientists for the day to show fellow pupils that learning science is great fun.

This group, known as the ‘STEM Ambassadors’, are responsible for developing Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths throughout the school. The Ambassadors chose an experiment to present to each class in the primary school. The children teamed up with Mrs Hunter’s first year chemistry class from the Academy who came down to the primary to give the STEM Ambassadors a helping hand. Lots of science fun was had by all!

Mr Graham, Head Teacher of Wallace Hall said: “I was delighted that our primary STEM Ambassadors joined forces with our S1 Chemists to deliver creative science activities during Science Week. I am sure all the primary and secondary pupils gained some valuable science knowledge and hope they have been putting this new-found knowledge to good use during our current lockdown. Thank you to Miss Robertson and Mrs Hunter for organising the activities. I am keen to encourage joint learning experiences across the 2-18 school and look forward to many more such initiatives when we return to Wallace Hall once the lockdown restrictions have been lifted.”
