Thanking Our Partners

WHA has delivered Rural Skills: Agriculture over a number of years and work closely with twelve partner farmers who provide practical experiences for the students on their farms. The class are studying Agriculture at National Progression Award level. This involves practical lessons which take place once a week on the farms and theory in the classroom.

To say thank you, the WHA Agriculture class enjoyed preparing lunch for partner farmers and staff under the supervision of chef Tom Kirkpatrick from Kirkcudbright. They were given lessons on food preparation and cooked the meal entirely by themselves.

Neil Miller, teacher in charge of Rural Skills, said: “Agriculture is an important industry in Dumfries & Galloway and the course is designed to give young people an insight into the employment opportunities that are available within the region. I would like to take this opportunity to warmly thank all our partner farmers for the time and effort they put into organising the practical experiences for our pupils. I would also like to thank chef Tom Kirkpatrick, Quality Meat Scotland, who sponsored this project and our local butchers who provided all the meat for today.”
