Celebrating Burns with Briery Park

On Thursday 6th February, residents of Briery Park, Thornhill attended a Burns Supper lunch in Wallace Hall Academy's very own Pegasus restaurant. Students prepared and cooked a delicious meal of haggis, neeps and tatties with a cream sauce followed by homemade sticky toffee pudding with ice cream.

During the meal residents enjoyed performances from some of our very talented vocalists and instrumentalists. The guests commented on the delicious food and the lovely atmosphere created by the live music while they were eating.

The lunch was provided free of charge. To raise funds for community events such as this one, the pupils involved in the Pegasus elective created a recipe calendar. The calendar featured 12 recipes that were then made and photographed by the pupils. The pupils also sought sponsorship from local companies to fund the final product which was designed and printed by Alba Printers of Dumfries. Thank you to all of the businesses who supported the venture and to Alba Printers who completed the work at a very competitive price. There are still a limited number of calendars available for £5. If you would like to purchase one, please contact our main office at Wallace Hall Academy.

The event was a huge success with guests and pupils alike thoroughly enjoying the experience. The pupils have already asked if we can run another event at Easter as the residents would love to return on a weekly basis. Hopefully in the future we can arrange more events.
