Trip to Tongland Power Station

This year’s Primary 3 summer trip was a visit to Tongland Power Station, the largest of the Galloway hydro scheme’s electricity generation plants. The pupils had a very busy day where they learned all about the hydro scheme and the environment.

During their visit they toured the hydroelectric dam, saw the fish ladder and Rowan (the Marine Biologist) explained to them that it takes 24hrs for a salmon to get up the ladder. They also picnicked at the beach, played games and built sandcastles and dams. All of our P3 pupils should be very proud of how they embraced new experiences, met new people and had fun! Well done to them all and thanks to the parent helpers for all their support
