A taste of France

Pupils in Mrs Bruce’s S1 and S2 classes have been enjoying a ‘Taste of France’ over the past couple of weeks where they have sampled a selection of French produce such as pain au chocolat, French bread, croissants, topped with strawberry jam and chocolate spread, all washed down with fruit juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. A highlight was getting the chance to drink the coffee, tea and hot chocolate from a bowl.

This week the S1 and S2 pupils had to place their order in French, adding to the continental atmosphere in ‘Café Bruce’. Jules Andreasen said: “I am really enjoying sampling the French fare and the croissants with chocolate spread are particularly delicious. Oliver Clanachan said: “It has been a real highlight and great fun to try drinking out of and dunking in the bowls!” Bailey Wright added: “Pain au chocolat is a brilliant way to start the morning and give you energy for the day ahead. Miam! Miam!”

S3 pupils also had a French tasting experience sampling a variety of cheeses accompanied by slices of French bread. Andrew said: “We really enjoyed our cheese tasting session. It gave us a real flavour for French cheese.” Finlay added: “This was the first time I had tasted Roquefort cheese and I thought it was delicious.”

Mrs Bruce, who has organised the café experience, said: “I have been delighted with how the pupils have engaged with the ‘Taste of France’ sessions. They have all taken part with enthusiasm and their confidence in speaking French has improved.”

“C’est génial!” said Odina Kumnova, “Vive la France!”
