Primary 6 Visit the Salmon Farm

Primary 6 had a trip to the Salmon Hatchery at Blackwood Estate, Auldgirth. They had a super visit with Debbie Parke, learning about the life of the North Atlantic Salmon. They were extremely lucky to see two hen salmon being stripped of their eggs and then being fertilised by the milt of a cock salmon. They saw eggs in their incubation tanks and were even allowed to handle some. The children had a great morning and were praised both for their intelligent questions as well as for their excellent behaviour.
